Social care services are there to help you or your loved ones if they are finding it hard to manage day-to-day tasks without support. This may be because of an illness or disability.
There is a wide range of social care support out there to help you to live your life as independently as possible, depending on your needs. You can arrange social care for yourself privately, or you can ask your local council for advice and support.

An assessment is a conversation about your needs, how these affect your wellbeing and what you want to be able to do in your daily life. The assessment is to decide whether you need support from social care, and what other support might be helpful.
If you have someone in your family or a friend who looks after you, they can also have a carer’s assessment to see what support they can get.
