People of all ages invited to attend ‘Healthy Day Out’ in Romford

People in Havering will be able to get expert advice on a range of health and care issues at a free community health fair organised by local NHS GPs on Saturday 22 July in Romford.

The event will run from 1pm to 4pm at the Victoria Centre in Pettits Lane and is the first to be hosted by Havering Crest Primary Care Network (PCN), a group of seven local GP surgeries.

During the event, there will be a chance to speak to health professionals including dieticians, pharmacists and diabetes experts, who can provide help and information and offer advice.

There will also be help and advice available from a range of voluntary and community organisations around issues affecting local people, such as cost of living support; an opportunity to speak to patient participation groups, and an exhibition from an art therapy class. Children of all ages will be able to take part in fun activities, with free soft drinks and snacks also on offer.

Havering Crest PCN is running the event to help ensure people are aware of the support available to themselves and their families to look after their health and wellbeing. It is open to everyone living in Havering – you do not need to be a patient at one of the PCN’s member surgeries.

Dr Asif Imran, Clinical Director at Havering Crest PCN, said:

“We’re hoping to see as many people as possible at the event – a few minutes speaking to a healthcare professional or having a quick test could end up having major benefits for your health.

“Having regular engagement with healthcare professionals can help diagnose conditions at an earlier stage and make them easier to treat so we’re trying to make this more accessible with events like these.

“Our work is also supported by a range of social and voluntary sector organisations that many people may be unaware of and would like to showcase the support available to residents”.
