We are responsible for planning and buying health services for the people of Tower Hamlets and making sure they meet the needs of local residents.

In Tower Hamlets, it’s our job to make sure that you receive high quality healthcare services whenever you need them – whether this is advice from a pharmacist or GP, a procedure in hospital, help at home through local community services, or if you need support with your mental health.

We do this by making sure all parts of the local health system work effectively together by working in collaboration with health partners, local authority and the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, alongside residents, patients and service users.

Please email nelondonicb.enquiries@nhs.net with any other NHS North East London queries, including any specific to Tower Hamlets.

Place partnerships

These partnerships bring together the NHS, local government and providers of health and social care services, including the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector, residents and communities, to provide a strong understanding of what works well and what is needed by local communities. As well as the ability to integrate local services across health and care and the levers to tackle some of the wider things that impact health, such as housing and employment.

In Tower Hamlets, our place partnership – Tower Hamlets Together – brings together local health and social care organisations with a common ambition to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in Tower Hamlets by ensuring that services are wrapped around residents who need them at place and at a more local ‘neighbourhood’ level through integration and primary care networks – GP practices working together in their areas.

While Tower Hamlets Together is made up of a number of different partners, we are committed to developing a shared culture which provides person-centred, coordinated care to everyone who uses our services.

The organisations that make up this partnership are:

The legacy of the Tower Hamlets Together Vanguard and greater cross-system working has given us the opportunity to think about how we can better organise ourselves and the heath and social services around the population that we serve. In order to do this and avoid duplication, the partnership developed three workstreams to bring stakeholders together from across the THT partners around the following population groups to improve health services in the following priority areas:

  • Children and Families Executive: oversees the continued development of operational and strategic approaches to meet the need of children and families in the borough. The workstream sits in parallel to ‘Every Chance for Every Child’ engagement group to link stakeholder engagement to areas of transformation across, Health, Education and Social Care.
  • Living well : works with the adult population that is mainly healthy (of which a segment may be accumulating high risk for future health issues) or experiencing relatively low complexity issues (e.g. common mental health issues, or long-term conditions that have not yet reached a level that significantly impacts on independent living).
  • Promoting independence: focuses on working with the complex adult population to promote this cohort’s independence, wellbeing and social inclusion, enabling them to participate as equal citizens in society.
  • North East London Health and Care Partnership

NHS North East London is part of North East London Health and Care Partnership. This is a formal alliance of health, care and community partners that works with and for all the people of north east London to create meaningful improvements in health, wellbeing and equity.

We want to make sure that local people across Tower Hamlets have access to the care and support they need. We will actively seek opportunities to work alongside residents and communities to co-design solutions to some of the challenges we face. We are always keen to find out what our local communities in Tower Hamlets think and feel about their local NHS and care services through a range of activities including surveys, focus groups and workshops, as well as through partner organisations and patient forums.
