Wednesday 9 June 2021 is ‘What matters to you?’ day, which encourages and supports more meaningful conversations between people who provide health and social care and the people, families and carers who receive health and social care. This has now become an international movement with many countries around the world participating.
We want as many people as possible who work in public services to have a ‘What matters to you?’ conversation with the people they support or care for. This can make a big difference to health outcomes for our local communities. We want to keep these conversations going so we can continually improve our services.
Here are some of the things the North East London Cancer Alliance is working on to find out what matters to our cancer patients and to help improve health outcomes. We are:
- increasing access to support services, tools and resources for cancer patients
- recruiting more patient and carer representatives to join our Patient and Carer Voice in Cancer, to help shape the future of cancer services in north east London
- raising awareness of lymphoedema and the support available for patients
- promoting the NHS national quality of life survey to help improve care for cancer patients
- developing our personalised care programme so that it meets the needs of our patients.
