Vaccination competition: local stories

Dozens of local people shared their vaccination stories on Twitter in July as part of a competition run by the local NHS and West Ham United. In July the club offered everyone who had had the Covid-19 vaccine in north east London the chance to win a new 2021/22 Umbro Home Kit shirt, signed by the squad.

To win the signed shirt you had to have had a COVID-19 vaccine and post a picture or message to Twitter saying you had had your jab.

The competition generated loads of interest and saw people from across north east London sharing their stories. You can visit the #WestHamComp hashtag to see all of them but you can read some of the messages below.

The winner was selected at random from the tweets and was won by Connor Todd from Chingford. You can read his story here.

“I had my jabs cos I am fed up of feeling like I am living in hiding and want to get back to normality!”

“Double jabbed since May. Quick and easy, the NHS are fantastic! Doing my bit to keep myself, my family, and my friends safe.”

“As someone who works in the health sector I was lucky to be offered the vaccine at the beginning of the roll out. I took it up as it helps me to protect colleagues in touch with or on the front line, as well as friends and family.”

“Doubled jabbed and I feel great! Hopefully this will allow supporters to get back in the stadiums and cheer on their teams.”

“Just scored my second jab at the Romford vaccination centre opposite the West Ham shop.”
