In August 2020, Hackney Council launched a new web-based resource to support parents throughout the first five years of their child’s life. ‘Our Journey – Birth to Five Years’ is an interactive web-based parent resource that has been developed by a group of local professionals and tested by residents. It provides all parents with trusted and verified information to support their journey into parenting when learning and growth are very fast.
The tool helps parents find local contacts, services, and activities to support their child’s learning and growing steps, helping them to be ready for school when they reach 5 years old. It also allows parents to understand all the free appointments available during this time, and who to contact about these, ensuring that no child misses out.
Parents who have tried and tested the page have said: “It makes you feel that you are not alone like someone is walking along with you.” Another added: “It is very friendly and easy to use.”
The information is specifically tailored for Hackney residents, so whilst there is so much information online the resource provides specific information for parents living locally. By supporting parents with every step of their child’s journey, Hackney is working to ensure that all children are happy, healthy, and ready to learn.
