The People’s Panel

The People’s Panel is made up of more than 2,200 residents living in north east London. 

Members of our panel provide vital feedback on a wide variety of health topics and proposals by taking part in online surveys. It’s a quick and easy way for you get involved in shaping the future of local healthcare services.

Our panel includes representation from different voices across our local areas including age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, physical and mental health conditions, and people with learning disabilities.

How do we join the panel?

How old do you have to be to join the panel?

  • 18 and over

Do I need to live in north east London to join the panel?

  • Yes, the panel is for NEL residents only as can only influence things in NEL  – there are other regional panels that will better reflect areas which sit outside of the North East London, and will be more relevant to where you live and can better influence the health and social care services that you access.

What can we expect from being a panel member?

  • To receive at a minimum a monthly newsletter and quarterly survey to complete, there will also be the opportunity to take part in focus groups and other events locally and across NEL.

What benefits are there to joining the panel?

  • It’s a great opportunity to share your local health and care system. By joining the panel your views and feedback will be shared with local teams and be used to help shape the decisions that are made within your community.
  • It’s a great way to keep up to date with local engagement activities and events.
  • You do not have to complete every survey, but every time you do your voice and views are being heard and considered.

What does being, a member of the north east London People’s Panel involve?

  • Completing a short survey every month or so. We know your time is valuable, so we make sure that our surveys take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
  • The surveys will be on different health or social care topics and by completing one you will help decision-makers hear from people who live in the area to inform how they make their decisions.
  • You can fill them out on your phone or computer at a time and place that suits you, so being on the panel can fit around your other commitments.
  • We will also always let you know the results of your involvement and how your feedback will be used. We may occasionally ask if panel members would like to be part of a focus group, but participation is optional.

How will you use my data?

  • Your data will be held securely and not be shared with any third parties.
  • By signing up to the People’s Panel you agree that your data can be used to send you surveys and emails that we believe you may be interested in.
  • Your responses will be linked to the demographic information you supply when you register with the panel, but your responses will be anonymous as we use unique ID codes rather than individuals’ names to analyse the surveys.
  • You do not have to complete all the surveys if you do not wish to. Your responses will be used to help the local NHS and health and care providers design and provide services that are right for our local community.

Do I need to use NHS or social care services to join?

  • No. You don’t need to use health or care services at the moment, or know much about them, we want to hear from everyone in the community.

What we do with the feedback from the panel

  • Your feedback and involvement in the panel helps us shape our plans and local services. See the results of the surveys we have runs so far, and how we are acting on with the feedback and ideas panel members have given us.

What can we expect from being a panel member? 

  • To receive regular newsletter and surveys to complete. There will also be the opportunity to take part in focus groups and other events locally and across north east London.
