Antimicrobial resistance

North East London Antimicrobial Resistance Strategy group

The NEL AMRSG is responsible for ensuring the implementation of a co-ordinated North East London approach to the government’s  published 20-year vision and 5-year national action plan for how the UK will contribute to containing and controlling AMR by 2040.

In support of the national drive to reduce antimicrobial resistance the NEL AMRSG became a work stream of the North East London ICS Medicines Optimisation Group with the function of providing clinical leadership and improved collaboration for appropriate antimicrobial stewardship across the system. It has representation from the microbiology/ infection control teams of all provider Trusts; Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospital Trust, Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton University Hospital Foundation Trust, East London Foundation Trust, North East London Foundation Trust; North East London CCG, and the seven local authority / public health/ social care teams.
