A free Covid-19 seasonal vaccine is available for:
- All adults aged 65 years and over
- Women or people who are pregnant
- Residents and staff in a care home for older adults
- Persons aged 16 to 64 years who are carers
- Persons aged 12 to 64 years who are household contacts of people with immunosuppression
- Frontline health and social care workers
- Those aged 6 months to 64 years in at-risk groups, including people with the following health conditions:
- Respiratory (lung) diseases, including asthma
- Diabetes
- Heart disease, kidney disease or liver disease
- Neurological (brain or nerve) conditions
- A learning disability
- A severe mental illness
- A weakened immune system (immunosuppression)
- A missing spleen or sickle cell disease
- Being very overweight – a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above.
A free flu vaccine is available for:
- Children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2023 (see nasal flu vaccine)
- School aged children (from Reception to Year 11).
- All adults aged 65 years and over
- Women or people who are pregnant (see flu vaccine in pregnancy)
- Those in long-stay residential care homes
- Carers in receipt of a carer’s allowance, or who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person
- Household contacts of immunocompromised individuals
- Frontline health and social care workers
- Those aged 6 months to 64 years in at-risk groups, including people with the following health conditions:
- Respiratory (lung) diseases, including asthma

- Neurological (brain or nerve) conditions
- A learning disability
- A weakened immune system (immunosuppression)

Some people may be eligible for both the flu and seasonal Covid-19 vaccines.
If you are offered both vaccines, it’s safe to have them at the same time. If you are not able to have both vaccines at the same appointment, go ahead with either first. You can catch up with the other vaccine at another appointment.
