Low-Carb Diet for Type 2 diabetes

Lower carbohydrate (carb) diets may be an effective way for adults living with type 2 diabetes who are obese or overweight to lose weight and put their diabetes into remission. Low carb diets provide 50-130g of carbs per day and have been shown to help with weight loss, glucose management and also reduce the risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease.

Leo’s type 2 diabetes went into remission after following a low carbohydrate diet programme under the supervision of his GP. With the right steps it may be possible to reverse your type 2 diabetes.

A low carbohydrate diet can be an effective approach to reversing type 2 diabetes. A low carb diet isn’t for everyone but if you’re interested in trying a low carb approach for type 2 diabetes remission, please speak to your GP or other clinician.

For more information please see the low-carb diet and meal plan on the Diabetes UK website.
