
Maternity services – bilingual

About this service
The Cradling Culture Maternity Service volunteers are bilingual volunteers who are officially registered with the Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust as volunteers.
They have received doula and local maternity training to equip them to support women throughout their pregnancy, labour and postnatal period.
They will attend appointments, attend in labour and postnatal appointments for the women they are supporting to advocate for them and support them, throughout their pregnancy, labour and postnatal period (they are NOT translators and must not be used as such).
Who can use this service
Cradling Cultures is a service for pregnant women who live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge and only operates from Queens hospital in Romford.
The eligibility criteria includes women who are:
- Unable to speak English fluently
- Diabetic or being seen in a Maternal Medicine Clinic
How to access this service
You can contact the service directly by emailing bhrut.maternitypatientexperience@nhs.net or speak to your GP, Midwife, Health Visitor or Social Work who can contact them on your behalf.
