About this service

An eating disorder is where you use the control of food to cope with feelings and other situations.

Unhealthy eating behaviours may include eating too much or too little or worrying about your weight or body shape.

Some of the most common eating disorders which can be treated through our eating disorder services include:

  • Anorexia – trying to control your weight by not eating enough food, exercising too much, or doing both
  • Bulimia – losing control over how much you eat and then taking drastic action to not put on weight
  • Binge eating disorder (BED) – eating large portions of food until you feel uncomfortably full

Anyone can develop an eating disorder, but we know that teenagers and young adults are most likely to be affected.

With the right treatment and support from a specialist eating disorder service, most people can recover well from an eating disorder.

Who can use this service

Young people under the age of 18 who are experiencing an eating disorder. Some services also support adults with eating disorders.
