NHS North East London Clinical Commissioning Group (NEL CCG) is a membership organisation made up of all GP practices across our eight local authority areas. Those member practices have agreed a constitution for the CCG and each meets through a borough members forum.
The CCG has a governing body which operates on behalf of the member practices. Our governing body includes seven GP borough clinical chairs, two independent clinicians: a nurse director and secondary care clinician, four lay members including a lead for patient and public engagement and senior NHS managers. You can read profiles of our governing body members below.
We meet in public every other month to review our own performance as well as that of our main providers and to plan, discuss and make decisions about local health services and how we can best improve them for the benefit of patients and the public. At the meetings we receive reports from our chair, our accountable officer, directors and lay members as appropriate. The lay member for patient and public involvement presents a report from the patient perspective at each meeting.
We also have a slot for the public to ask us questions about local healthcare and our priorities. We ask that anyone wishing to submit questions lets us know in advance so we can gather all the information we might need to help us answer fully.
