NHS North East London Integrated Care Board pays tribute to Cllr Neil Wilson

We are extremely saddened by the news of the passing of Cllr Neil Wilson, Vice Chair of our Integrated Care Partnership. It brings together partners from across the system to improve the health, care and wellbeing of the North East London Population and Cllr Wilson has been at the helm since its inception, driving forward a programme of work with our Chair Marie Gabriel. Neil was a tireless advocate for the people of Newham and north east London more widely and staff have praised his commitment, infectious enthusiasm and determination and the way he brought something special to every meeting he was in.

Dame Marie Gabriel, Chair of NHS North East London ICB and friend of Cllr Wilson said “North East London has benefited so much from Neil’s leadership, as a teacher, councillor, policy leader and for us at the ICB, most recently as the Vice Chair of our integrated care partnership and as the Cabinet member for health and social care, an active leader within  our Newham place Based Partnership.

I will forever celebrate Neil’s dedication to improving outcomes for the residents of Newham and  wider north east London, he was always so well prepared, informed, engaged and solution focused.

I also found Neil to be an inspiration for the way he lived his values every day, in all that he did, with both kindness and determination.

Neil was my friend and neighbour for over 20 years and I will miss him so very much. I will therefore mostly remember him with gratitude and love for the fun and giggles he brought into my life”.

Zina Etheridge, Chief Executive added “Cllr Wilson was a fantastic public servant, truly committed to local people and making meaningful improvements to their health and wellbeing. He was a real character who contributed to our ICP in so many ways helping us cement the strong partnership working that drives our approach in NEL. We will really miss him”.

On behalf of the ICB we send our condolences and thoughts to Cllr Wilson’s family and friends and thank him for all of his valuable contributions and input.
