More than 11,000 patients at a Tower Hamlets medical practice have access to a wider range of services on one site, after GPs and their teams moved into new purpose-built premises.
City Square Medical Group has now relocated to a brand new building at 14 Deancross Street in Whitechapel – providing much-needed extra space and additional modern facilities.
It follows the merger of City Wellbeing Practice and Brayford Square Surgery as City Square Medical Group in April, which saw the practice temporarily operating from two sites.
All patients of City Square Medical Group now have more convenient access to a wider range of services under one roof at Deancross Street, and GPs and their teams are able to work together more efficiently to meet current and future demand – supporting work by the NHS and its partners to transform the health and care system to improve outcomes for local people.
The 25 practice staff moved into the new building on 25 October. It includes nine improved clinical rooms, a patient lounge and meeting space – offering patients extra consultation time, a choice of clinicians, practice nurses and health care assistants, as well as access to a pharmacist.
Dr Ben Dougall, a GP at City Square Medical Group, said: “The move into the new and improved premises allows the practice team to deliver high quality care in a fit-for-purpose environment.
“Having recently merged City Wellbeing Practice and Brayford Square, which were both working in small premises on separate sites, this new facility allows the two groups of staff to come together as one team and start to deliver on our vision for clinical excellence for our local population.
“This is the outcome of a successful partnership effort by both of our practice teams, our primary care network, NHS North East London Clinical Commissioning Group, Tower Hamlets Council, and NHS Property Services Ltd. We would like to thank all of our patients, staff and local partners, all of whom have contributed ideas and innumerable forms of support.
“We look forward to building on these successes from our new site.”
City Square Medical Group falls under the newly-merged primary care network, Tower Network, in the south west of the borough, and it currently has around 11,100 patients on its roll.
