National recognition at the HSJ awards for north east London

The Health Service Journal Awards took place last night (18 November) at Evolution London in Battersea Park. This year’s awards attracted more than 1,000 entrants across the 23 categories.

A ground-breaking service (Health Spot) that provides specially-tailored health and wellbeing support to children and young people in east London has won national recognition. The service’s partners – Tower Hamlets GP Care Group, Poplar HARCA and NEL CCG were highly commended in the Primary Care Innovation of the Year category for its work making care accessible and relevant to young people. Information on Health Spot and the team behind the service is available on its webpage.

NEL CCG was also among the finalists in two other categories at this year’s awards. The CCG’s diversity networks were shortlisted in the Staff Engagement category, thank you to all our staff for their continued contribution to supporting our staff networks. We know our networks help to improve the working lives of staff and boost workplace culture and morale.

Tower Hamlets Together (THT) was shortlisted in the Partnership of the Year category for its work supporting clinically extremely vulnerable children and their families in the borough who were shielding during the Covid-19 pandemic. NEL CCG is among the six local organisations that make up the partnership, along with Tower Hamlets Council, Tower Hamlets Council for Voluntary Services, East London NHS Foundation Trust, Barts Health NHS Trust and Tower Hamlets GP Care Group.

Our colleagues at Barts Health Trust, Barts Health, Public Health Teams of LB Hackney, LB Walthamstow & East London Partnership – was also shortlisted in the Health and Local Government Partnership Award category, for the amazing work to get the vaccine where it’s needed most.

We also want to congratulate Oliver Shanley and the team at NELFT who, with the army (22 Field Hospital), won the Military and Civilian Health Partnership HSJ Award for the NHS London Nightingale Hospital Build 2021. NELFT was also shortlisted in the Freedom to Speak up Organisation of the Year category.

The annual awards shine a light on healthcare excellence, and it was great to have north east London recognised, congratulations to all the finalists and winners!
