Improving stroke services for local people

Our long term conditions team is working to improve care services for people who have had a mini stoke (known as a Transient Ischaemic Attack or TIA) or a stroke.

A TIA is also known as a mini stroke and is a warning sign that someone may be at risk of having a full stroke, That means it is important to be seen within 24 hours of symptoms starting.

Currently, people who are suspected of having a TIA can be seen by a specialist from Monday to Friday at our acute hospitals – the Royal London, Homerton, Whipps Cross, Newham and Queen’s (Romford).

The team is now launching a weekend service which they want to make sure meets the needs of local people. They also want to understand what people know about the risks and symptoms so that messages about TIAs and strokes, what to do and where to go can be improved.

If you live in north east London, or you have family and friends who do, please complete and share our short online survey. This survey can be completed by anyone, whether they have experienced a stroke or not.

The survey will close at midnight on Friday 28 July 2023.

A downloadable version of the survey is also available and can be posted to us using our freepost address, dropped off to any of our offices or emailed over to us.

If you have any questions or you need the survey in a different format please email nelondonicb.nelcommunications@nhs.net or call us on 020 8221 5500.
