Hackney support group for fathers no longer living with their children

On Father’s Day (19 June 2022), a peer-support group was launched for local fathers no longer living with their children. Called Hackney Dads, this initiative was created by John Murphy, a Hackney resident who felt more support was needed for fathers who need practical and emotional support due to not seeing their children.

Murphy has set up the group as part of Volunteer Centre Hackney’s Together Better project, which empowers patients from GP surgeries to start activities that improve the wellbeing of residents and the wider community. Members of Hackney Dads will work together to find fun and affordable community activities that will allow them and their children to socialise as a group.

For those interested in joining, contact Richard Howlett (Volunteer Centre Hackney) or call 07305 786 174.
