Platinum Jubilee celebrations took place between Thursday 2 June and Sunday 5 June 2022, which saw people travelling far and wide to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th year on the throne. Elsdale Street Surgery in Hackney was no different: it hosted a street party for residents in the community.
The event was organised by Volunteer Centre Hackney, who had 12 volunteers plan the event over the course of one month. More than 250 hours of “volunteer power” was given to lay out the bunting, put up the tables, obtain and cook the food, host a face painting booth and even showcase a choreographed dance! Her Majesty also made an appearance in the form of a life-sized cut out!
This video highlights the time and effort that was offered to make this outing possible. After all, #togetherwearealwaysbetter.
