Fiona Smith trained as a nurse at Guy’s Hospital in the early 1980s. She has held several senior nurse and management roles within her 37 years in the NHS and her clinical career has included secondary care and community services, and time as a lecturer practitioner at the Middlesex University.
Fiona has gained operational management experience in the acute sector and has held a number of Executive Director roles in London Trusts. She is passionate about excellent clinical care and ensuring that patients and their carers receive high quality and safe care. She has previously chaired Newham CCG’s Quality and Safety Committee.
Fiona is committed to a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency approach to system change in order to meet the challenges of delivering sustainable services for the people of north east London into the future. As well as her NEL Governing Body role, Fiona is a Non-Executive Director at First Community Health and Care, a community services social enterprise in Surrey.
